Jim Herman shot 7-under-par 63 to win the Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, N.C., on Sunday for his third PGA Tour title and a spot in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Herman finished at 21-under 259 for a one-stroke victory over Billy Horschel.
Herman erased a four-stroke deficit in the round, overtaking Horschel with a birdie on No. 17.
PGA Tour Champions: Jerry Kelly had a hole-in-one in a round of 1-under 69 as he finished at 3-under 277 to beat Scott Parel by two shots in the Bridgestone Senior players Championship in Akron, Ohio.
The event is the tour’s first major of the season.
Other events: Stacy Lewis sank a 23-foot birdie putt to beat Azahara Muñoz, Cheyenne Knight and Emily Kristine Pedersen on the first playoff hole of the LPGA Tour’s Ladies Scottish Open in North Berwick. Lewis (72), Muñoz (73), Knight (70) and Pedersen (68) finished at 5-under 279. … In Newport, Wales, Sam Horsfield shot 4-under 67 to finish at 18-under 266 and win the European Tour’s Celtic Classic by two shots. … In Bandon, Ore., Georgia Tech’s Tyler Strafaci defeated SMU’s Ollie Osborne 1 up in the U.S. Amateur’s 36-hole final.
