Yankees’ Aaron Judge returns to injured list

The Yankees on Friday placed right fielder Aaron Judge on the 10-day injured list with a strained left calf two days after he had returned to their lineup.

Judge was activated Wednesday but aggravated the injury in a game at Atlanta and was removed in the sixth inning.

He is batting .292 with nine home runs, 20 RBIs and a 1.081 OPS in 18 games.

Injury report: Astros first baseman Yordan Alvarez, the 2019 AL Rookie of the Year who already had been ruled out for the season, had surgery on both knees. ... Brewers catcher Manny Piña was placed on the IL because of a torn knee ligament. Other players landing on the IL were Reds pitcher Wade Miley (shoulder), Rangers outfielder Danny Santana (elbow sprain), Mariners pitcher Matt Magill (shoulder strain) and Mets pitcher Corey Oswalt (biceps tendinitis).

Trades: The White Sox acquired outfielder Jarrod Dyson from the Pirates for international signing bonus pool money. Dyson is hitting .157, but is 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts after stealing 27 bases in 30 tries last season.

Roster moves: Among the players who were designated for assignment were Twins reliever Danny Coulombe, White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico, Mets outfielder Juan Lagares, Reds outfielder Phillip Ervin and Brewers reliever Justin Grimm.
