Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Gerald McCoy is out for the season after tearing the quadriceps tendon in his right leg in the first padded practice of training camp Monday.

The Cowboys added depth on the defensive line in the offseason, but the loss of a potential starting tackle is a blow for first-year coach Mike McCarthy and the new defensive staff.

McCoy, 32, spent nine seasons with Tampa Bay and one with Carolina before becoming the first of the Cowboys’ four significant additions on the defensive line in free agency.

• The Kansas City Chiefs will limit capacity of Arrowhead Stadium to 22% when they begin defense of their Super Bowl title. That equates to about 17,000 fans at what is considered one of the toughest environments in the NFL.

• Washington hired Jason Wright as team president, making him the first Black person to hold that position in NFL history. He will run the organization’s business operations. Wright, 38, was a running back for seven years with Atlanta, Cleveland and Arizona.

• The New York Giants cut kicker Chandler Catanzaro. New York is in talks with Graham Gano, who hit a career-long 63-yard field goal with a second left as the Panthers beat the Giants 33-31 in 2018.

Brad Marchand and Connor Clifton also scored in the third, helping Boston erase a 2-0 deficit entering the period. It was a stunning turnaround — the Bruins had a 16-2 edge in shots on goal in those final 20 minutes — that has Boston within a win of advancing in a series that looked headed for a 2-2 tie.

• Nazem Kadri had two goals and an assist and Philipp Grubauer stopped 14 shots as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Arizona Coyotes 7-1 in Edmonton, Alberta, to take a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference series.

• Andrei Vasilevskiy had 28 saves and the Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2-1 in Toronto to take a 3-1 lead in their East series.
