The New York Mets will resume play Tuesday after no additional members tested positive for COVID-19 since the team learned of two infections that caused four games to be postponed.

Major League Baseball said in a statement that all the Mets’ subsequent tests, including Sunday’s, were negative and the team was returning to baseball activities Monday at Citi Field. A doubleheader against Miami was scheduled for Tuesday beginning at 2:10 p.m. PDT, with the Mets the home team for the first game and the Marlins the home team for the second.

The Mets’ series finale Thursday in Miami and their three weekend Subway Series games against the Yankees were postponed after the positive results.

The Mets will make up the series against the Yankees with doubleheaders Friday and Sunday at Yankee Stadium and a single game Sept. 3 at Citi Field.

Briefly: Toronto acquired struggling designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach from the Seattle Mariners for $100,000. ... Houston’s game against the Angels on Thursday has been moved to Tuesday and will be played as part of a doubleheader because of Tropical Storm Laura. ... Cleveland manager Terry Francona will miss the club’s three-game series against Minnesota this week while he continues to deal with health issues.

Astros inch closer to A’s in West

Framber Valdez struck out a career-high 11 in seven strong innings and Carlos Correa drove in three runs as the host Houston Astros snapped a three-game skid with an 11-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Angels’ Albert Pujols passed Alex Rodriguez on the career RBIs list with a single for his 2,087th run batted in. Hank Aaron is the record holder at 2,297 — Babe Ruth is listed next on some charts with 2,214, even though 224 occurred before the RBI became an official statistic in 1920.

Houston led by one with two outs and the bases loaded in the sixth inning when Correa laced a double to the left-field corner to send everyone home and make it 8-4.

Rockies 3, Diamondbacks 2: Raimel Tapia drove in Tony Wolters with a tie-breaking single in the fifth inning for visiting Colorado to give rookie Ryan Castellani his first major-league victory. The Rockies ended their losing streak at seven games. Arizona’s skid reached six.

Marlins 11, Nationals 8: Jesus Aguilar drove in three runs and visiting Miami won to take three of the five games in the series.
