Major League Baseball postponed this weekend’s Subway Series in New York to allow time for more testing and contact tracing after two members of the Mets tested positive for the coronavirus while in Miami.
The Mets-Marlins game Thursday in Miami and Friday’s Mets-Yankees game in New York were postponed on Thursday after the results were reported. MLB postponed the rest of the weekend series between the New York teams Friday “out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing.”
Phillies make trades: The Phillies acquired relievers Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree from the Red Sox. Philadelphia also got cash and will either receive more cash or a player to be named from Boston, which obtained right-handers Nick Pivetta and Connor Seabold.
The Phillies also acquired right-handed reliever David Hale from the Yankees, sending back righty relief prospect Addison Russ.

Other players placed on the IL included Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres (hamstring), Orioles first baseman Chris Davis (knee), Royals catcher Salvador Perez (eye) and Angels catcher Max Stassi (knee bruise). ... Rays right-hander Yonny Chirinos, on the IL with an elbow strain, will have Tommy John surgery.
