Man stabbed in the chest in Dorchester, suspect arrested

Around 9:40 p.m. at Dorchester Avenue and Lyon Street.

Boston Police report the victim was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive.

According to police:

Upon arrival, officers observed a group of men arguing, and while attempting to separated them, officers observed a male victim in his late 30’s suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso.

Jose Gomes, 43, of Boston, who was still on scene, was positively identified as the person who stabbed the victim. Officer recovered a silver folding pocket knife from the suspect

Gomes was charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, police say.
